Even as a “boozer,” Bogie was a far better actor than most so-called actors of our day.

Best actor ever. All of the current schleps are worthless in comparison, dawdling in shock cinema and love stories with no meat in them.

i will never stop drinking and smoking, thats the only reason i’m still here, how can people live without these thing, they’re comin home after work every day smiling, but when they think about their boring lifes they get pissed, and depressiv, but standing up the next day and doing the same boring thing again and again,i’m living the life they wanna have, and i go on,if it costs me 40 years of my life,i can say i lived my life

, of course not. But he said those words when his illness was terminal and he was in terrible pain. But Bogie was a real man and he lived and died in style.

What fascinating footage! A complete professional when it came to his acting career, I’ve read that Bogie was a nice & mellow enough fellow when sober but that he could be a mean drunk who liked to needle people. But that’s just one instance of a person being a beloved performer but a less than stellar individual. But aren’t we all? None of us is perfect. All of our idols have clay feet in one way or another. Bogie liked to drink & smoke – often to excess; but he was a pro at his craft.

So, is this intended to be an example to
the youth of America that you get fame,
stardom and riches by being a SOT?
Maybe 1 in 10 million. By far most of
these “boozers” can be seen in the
middle of public streets, dirty, stinking,
“flying a sign” that reads:
“WHY LIE, I NEED A BEER!”

I happen to prefer Orson Welles, another drunk, but as far as drinking goes I think Errol Flynn might be the candidate to vote for?

When Bogart died he passed to Sinatra not only the liquor legacy but also his widow.

Thank you very for posting. Great man, iconic actor, legendary boozer. Alas, the time goes by. Nobody from today’s actors could be compared with this great generation, with these Rat Pack buddies.
